As a highly-trained, and broadly experienced local government executive, Oscar has held leadership positions in Santa Fe, the State of New Mexico, and in cities across the country and the world.
His experience and knowledge of Santa Fe ensure he will come to the Mayor’s Office with the competence and exceptional expertise necessary to bring about a marked improvement in our city government.
Education & Experience
I was the first in my family to go to college, earning degrees from Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I received an MA in Urban Studies with an emphasis in City Management. This prepared me for incredible adventures and opportunities I could never have imagined.
History
I have deep roots in this city and land. My ancestors, for whom Apache Canyon was named, fought hard for the survival of their tribe. Their spirit of resistance and duty passed down from generation to generation and to my parents, who received only an elementary school education.

Family
I’m the proud father of three beautiful young women – one who just graduated from medical school and is starting a residency in Albuquerque, one who is the mother of two beautiful granddaughters in Boston, and one who is on her way to high school in Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is my home, and I will stay here for the rest of my life.
